A Landmark Step for Justice and Mercy: TBF Meets with the Lagos State Chief Judge
The Tunji Braithwaite Foundation (TBF) recorded another significant milestone in its efforts to promote justice, mercy, and the enduring legacy of the late Dr. Tunji Braithwaite following a highly productive meeting with the Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State and his team.
Yesterday, June 15th, 2026, marked another beautiful and significant milestone for the Tunji Braithwaite Foundation (TBF). In our continuous pursuit to promote justice, mercy, and the enduring legacy of the late Dr Tunji Braithwaite, our team had the distinct honour of meeting with the Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State and his esteemed team for a highly productive session.
The gathering, held in the Luxury Conference Room of the Lagos State Judiciary, brought together some of the most distinguished figures in the state's legal system, including judges, senior administrative personnel, and key judicial officers.
A Warm Reception and Powerful Presentations
The TBF delegation was received with incredible warmth and cordiality. The atmosphere in the room was electric—characterised by engaging discussions, intellectual exchanges, and a deeply shared commitment to advancing both justice and humanitarian causes across Nigeria.
Our delegation was proudly led by Barrister Mrs OlaOluwa Branco-Rhodes, who serves as Chairman, and included a dedicated team of advocates:
Pastor Olawale Idowu
Barrister Mrs. Funke Adekoya
Barrister Niyi Sanusi
Mrs. Mercy Ayomide
Christian Wogu Esq.
During the session, our Chairman presented the Foundation's position with absolute clarity, respect, courage, and conviction. This was powerfully supported by remarks from Barrister Niyi Sanusi and Christian Wogu Esq., who further illuminated the vision and life-changing objectives behind our initiatives.
Key Highlight: Discussing the Prerogative of Mercy
One of the most valuable outcomes of our engagement was an extensive and eye-opening discussion on the criminal justice system.
Advocating for the Vulnerable: The Chief Judge provided profound insights into the conditions and considerations that guide the granting of the prerogative of mercy to inmates.
This specific guidance is an invaluable asset to the Foundation. It will directly assist and refine our ongoing advocacy and humanitarian work, ensuring we can better support those who are most vulnerable within the system.
Looking Ahead: The June 26th Commemorative Event
In response to our presentation and previous correspondence, the Honourable Chief Judge and his team expressed a highly positive disposition toward TBF's mission.
The judiciary leadership took the time to commend our efforts in preserving the ideals of Dr Tunji Braithwaite, recognising that his lifelong commitment to defending the oppressed and championing justice remains a beacon of inspiration across Nigeria and beyond.
Even more encouragingly, the Chief Judge indicated that he—or a high-level representative of the judiciary—will be joining us for the Foundation's upcoming commemorative event scheduled for June 26, 2026.
A Gracious Conclusion
As a gesture of goodwill, the Honourable Chief Judge generously presented gifts to the Tunji Braithwaite Foundation. Our delegation was graciously hosted, treated to mouth-watering refreshments, and made to feel entirely at home within the walls of the judiciary.
This landmark meeting has successfully strengthened the bridge between TBF and the Lagos State Judiciary. It reinforced a shared, unwavering commitment to compassion and meaningful societal impact.
We remain incredibly grateful to the Honourable Chief Judge and his team for their warm reception and constructive engagement. We eagerly look forward to the positive outcomes that will undoubtedly emerge from this powerful collaboration!
